I met my supervisor today. She seems like she will be nice. The purpose of the meeting was to meet each other, for her to tell me what she expects to see when she observes me, and to set dates for the observations.
It is nice to know so far in advance what days she will observe on. That gives me plenty of time to prepare. I am not sure exactly where we will be yet as far as subject matter, but once I do know I can start planning.
One method she will be looking for is some sort of formal assessment at the end of each class. This surprised me a little. All other professors I have had are fine with informal assessment for most days. This can be a discussion to make sure students are on track or walking around the room to make sure students are doing the work.
My supervisor is looking for something written that takes 3-5 minutes. This can be a journal entry, an exit ticket (some sort of question that they answer and give me on the way out), or a small multiple choice quiz. My mentor teacher was surprised by this as well. However, it will not be hard to accomplish and I am thankful that she told me in advance.
